Advocacy helps children in all grades, from preschool through transition. We also advocate on behalf of adults to ensure they receive the services and benefits to which they are entitled.

Autism Support Center (ASC) provides families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders with information and referrals, parent and professional training, recreational activities,
parent and sibling support groups, financial assistance and the Augmentative and Alternative Communication program, “Touch to Talk.”

Behavioral Health Services provides evidence-based and intensive home, school and community-based ABA services for children on the autism spectrum ages 2½ to nine.

Building Blocks is an intensive program of evaluation, in-home intervention and parent training for young children, ages birth to 3, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Early Intervention (EI) Services are a family-focused, integrated developmental service for families of children ages birth to three. Northeast Arc has two EI programs: Early Intervention – North Shore and Early Intervention – Cape Ann.

Our Family Resource Center assists parents in identifying what is needed to maintain the integrity of their families, to decrease or alleviate stress, and to become full participants in their communities. We provide information and referrals, facilitate access to community resources, and arrange for respite care.

First Steps Childcare offers partial or full-day care, preschool, and pre-kindergarten to children ages 2 months through 5 years in a nurturing, educational environment staffed by experienced teachers. Each child is accepted as an individual and is allowed to progress at his or her own rate.

HelpingHomes (Shared Living and Adult Family Care) is a community-based individualized living arrangement for children and adults with developmental disabilities. As an alternative to group living, individuals in HelpingHomes share homes with caregiver families who have been selectively recruited, trained, and supported to provide companionship, opportunities for community membership and skills development.

Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Program allows individuals to become employers of their own PCAs through Medicaid funding and training from Northeast Arc Skills Trainers. Consumers hire staff to assist with their activities of daily living, enabling them to live independently in the community.

Recreation offers individuals of all ages the opportunity to participate in leisure activities for enjoyment, relaxation, development and personal growth. We offer a variety of athletic programs and sports teams, dances, day trips, fine and performance art classes, cooking classes, bowling leagues, social clubs and special interest groups.

Transition Services support students with disabilities ages 14 to 22 and their families with school-to-community transition planning. We offer transition assessments, mentoring, and up to 10 hours of free Transition Coordination services using a person-centered planning model.

Employment Services:
Heritage Industries, the vocational component of Northeast Arc, provides supports to adults with disabilities through programs ranging from paid work opportunities at our Training Center to community work sites and supports to achieve competitive employment. The programs at Heritage are designed to provide supports that address the diverse needs of each individual we serve. Program components include:
• Paid work opportunities at the Training Center
• Employment within Northeast Arc small businesses (Heritage Caning Company, Heritage Cleaning Company, Shine Jewelry, Heritage Business Services)
• Deaf Services
• Specialized Services
• Transportation Services

Day Habilitation provides assistance with the acquisition, retention, and improvement of self-help, socialization and adaptive skills. Participants have access to a variety of medical resources such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Behavioral Support as well as case management by RNs. A variety of services are offered to meet the varying needs of the individuals we serve:
• Cornerstone: Community integration focus
• Meridian: Medical focus with RNs, LPNs, and specially trained medical staff
• LEEDS: Focus on behavioral supports with high level of staff supervision
• Heritage Industries: Part-time work option

Northeast Arc has been recognized as a leader in providing housing supports and services to people with disabilities for over 40 years. Our Residential Division offers a broad range of supports designed to meet the needs of each individual, from 24-hour hands-on supervision, to a few hours a week or something in-between. We’re proud to offer specialized services for individuals who may have intensive medical needs, are deaf or hard of hearing, or who require extra emotional/behavioral supports. Our dedicated professionals provide whatever level of care is necessary to ensure that the men and women we support lead full and happy lives.

The guiding principle for each of the services provided through Northeast Arc’s Residential Division is to maximize a person’s quality of life through training and education.
