Application Process
Application
Families may submit an application directly or can be referred by schools or human service professionals. A $10 non-refundable fee is required at the time of application, along with a current photo of your child.
Along with the application, please include:
- a current photo of your child
- a copy of your child's most recent IEP
- any other relevant documentation
Interview
Once your child's application is received, we will call to schedule an interview with you and your child. This is an opportunity for parents to learn more about the program as well as a chance for us to get to know your child. There will be time for the child to play a few of the games that are incorporated into the Spotlight/On Cue curriculum and to express any goals or needs that you or your child may have.
This hour long, informal interview serves the following purposes:
-
it allows you to see the Spotlight/On Cue method in action and get to know some of the staff who will be working with your child
-
the positive interaction between our staff and your child acts as a great foundation for the transition into attending Spotlight/On Cue
-
we get a chance to assess your child for the purposes of finding a placement that will facilitate the greatest chance for group success
Registration
If your child is accepted into the program, the next step will be to register for the present or upcoming semester. Without a registration form your child will be unable to participate in a group.
You can view our group schedule here.
Group Placement
Groups are formed on the basis of age, ability level, interests and developmental needs. We hope to ensure the best group placement for you child's success. In this way, the greatest potential for social success is created before your child even enters his or her group.
