“The Spotlight/On Q Program provides services and activities to develop the social-emotional confidence and competence of our students.”

This is accomplished via the concrete presentation of social pragmatics goals, and the connection of those goals to highly-interactive, semi-structured activities, including the novel use of drama-based activities. These goals are addressed and targeted according to the developmental needs of the individual students.

Core Program Principles:
- unique social pragmatics teaching method involving use of affectively motivating acting games and dramatic training adapted for this age/population.
- positive social reinforcement through strong relationships built between the students and the staff, as well as between the students themselves.
- use of strong age-appropriate motivators such as video games and noncompetitive physical activity.

Spotlight/On Q uniquely integrates these elements to facilitate growth in social pragmatic skills. Participants both learn and use their ever-increasing social pragmatic skills within this setting and also gain motivation to begin to generalize them across other settings including home and school.
