Teen and Parent Support Groups

Teen Support Groups, facilitated by Spotlight staff, offer a supportive group environment in which teens and young adults ages 14-22 can discuss the myriad issues facing them today, including school, friendship and relationships. Boys and girls groups are held separately.


Parent Support Group allows parents to receive guidance and support from one another, as well as from Spotlight staff, around issues relating to parenting a child with social-emotional challenges.

                                                                                                                                                        For new teen participants, please come to the first group with a completed information form

 


 

Pragmatic Puppeteers

Fridays 4 pm - 6 pm

starting March 30th

 

Free six-week group open to children ages 6-12.  Activities will include puppet play, making your own puppets and prop and set design.

Social Scenes are therapeutic, drama-based social pragmatics groups for youth ages 9-22 with social-emotional challenges such as Asperger's Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and related diagnoses.

 

After School starting 3/28 or 3/29 3:45 - 5:45 pm

Every Saturday starting 3/31 10 am - 12 pm

 Every Other Saturday starting 3/31 or 4/7

10 am - 1 pm or 1:30 - 4:30 pm

On Cue groups encourage children ages 6-9 to learn and practice social skills in an activities-based setting, facilitating interaction and play amongst peers and counselors. Curriculum is focused is on play, friendship building, energy regulation and understanding perspective.

Next Stage Spring 2012

Next Stage groups, for teens and young adults ages 14-22 transitioning into adulthood, address skills such as independence, self awareness and identity, community living, understanding dating and relationships, education and employment and more.

 

Young Adults: Tuesdays 4 - 6 pm starting 4/3

Every Saturday 1:30 - 4:30 pm starting 4/7

Every other Saturday 10 am - 1 pm starting 4/14

Social Scenes Summer 2012

Social Scenes are therapeutic, drama-based social pragmatics groups for youth ages 9-22 with social-emotional challenges. In addition to the intensive practice of social skills though drama and improvisation, participants also produce a short film with fellow group members and participate in activities such as special interest clubs, swimming and weekly field trips.
