Weather Policy

Spotlight will make every reasonable effort to remain open during storm days. However, in cases of inclement weather, groups may be cancelled. On weekdays, Spotlight will follow Danvers’ public school closure notices. If conditions deteriorate after school closure notices have been issued, or on weekend days, staff may make the decision to cancel programs. Decisions will be made as early as possible in respect to the needs and safety of participants, staff, interns, and volunteers.

Factors to be taken into consideration for the cancellation of programs include:

  • current and anticipated road conditions
  • weather forecast and advisories
  • staff availability
  • safe access to program venue

Should the session be cancelled, this information will be left on our website (on the homepage under “News”), Facebook page and Twitter page.  The Program Director or Assistant Program Director will also leave a detailed voicemail message on the Spotlight cell phone. Parents/legal guardians can and should access the Spotlight cell phone by calling (978)-880-8484 prior to 1:00 pm on weekdays or 9:00 am on Saturdays. When possible, an email will also be sent out to families informing them of the cancellation.

If a cancellation occurs, Spotlight will make every effort to reschedule the program day at the end of the semester. In cases when this is not possible, families will receive a payment credit which can be used towards tuition in the following semester.
